Nicole Jones Sworn in as Ninth District Representative

The Richmond City Council during a special meeting Tuesday swore in Nicole Jones as the new Ninth District representative and appointed a new president and vice president.

The council in mid-December appointed Jones to the position being vacated by Councilman Michael Jones, who won election to the House of Delegates in November.  Nicole Jones, who is not related to Michael Jones, has served on the Richmond school board since January 2021. She is allowed to hold both positions concurrently. She will serve out the final 11 months of the term held by Michael Jones, who had been on the council for seven years, most recently as president.
