Councilman Jones is working hard to ensure that our neighborhoods are clean and free of litter and
overgrown weeds and brush, that residents are getting the response needed to crime and in addressing
resident concerns, and that speeding and reckless driving in our neighborhoods are addressed through
enforcement and street design to ensure a safer environment for drivers, bikers, and pedestrians alike.
Southside has the potential to attract new businesses and industries while also continuing to serve as a
home for the many locally-owned businesses that are stables for the community. Councilman Jones
supports projects and initiatives that will support existing businesses, attract new businesses, and that will
provide good-paying jobs and career opportunities to residents.
Every time it rains in the Southside, it floods. Councilman Jones is fighting for more funding to fix stormwater infrastructure to address outstanding needs and the growing problems flooding causes.
Councilman Jones is addressing speeding by dedicating funding for traffic calming infrastructure, supporting new sidewalks and bike lanes, and advocating for enforcement to deter unsafe driving habits.
Housing is a right, and Richmond should be for everyone. There should be a variety of affordable housing options across the city to meet different needs for affordability, and Councilman Jones supports funding for the Affordable Housing Trust Fund as well as demanding developers play a bigger role in
addressing the current affordable housing crisis.
Councilman Jones has supported seniors and people with disabilities by connecting people to essential resources such as Covid vaccines, food assistance, health care assistance, and social services. Additionally, he is working to make the tax relief program easier to access and to address issues with the delinquent tax sale program.
Throughout the pandemic, Councilman Jones has been focused on responding to the effects it has had on Richmonders, especially essential workers, seniors, and communities of color. Councilman Jones has supported legislation to provide funding to small businesses to help them weather the economic challenges, his office connected over 150 seniors with vaccines in February and March 2021 and provided masks to assisted living facilities, apartment complex residents, and food pantries.
